Mercedes-Benz is all about safety. For years, Mercedes-Benz has been devoted to innovative technology when it comes to safety. Today, Mercedes-Benz offers exclusive new breakthroughs to help make an accident less likely. True to their legacy, they’re engineered to protect their drivers. ¬†Below are some highlights of what you will find at a Mercedes-Benz dealer when it comes to safety technology.

Attention Assist

Attention Assist begins by taking note of over 70 parameters in the first minutes of a drive to get to know your unique driving style. As you continue, it can detect certain steering corrections that suggest the onset of drowsiness. It then considers a wide assortment of other factors, from crosswinds and road smoothness to how often you’re interacting with the vehicle’s controls and switches. If it all adds up to driver fatigue, Attention Assist sounds an alert encouraging you to stop to rest.

Adaptive High beam Assist

The new Adaptive High beam Assist adjusts the headlamp range automatically to the distance of vehicles ahead or oncoming traffic. This means that whatever the driving situation, you automatically have the best light available. You can now recognize the course of the road, pedestrians or dangerous spots even earlier and more reliably. This provides for safer night-time driving.

Intelligent Light System

The Intelligent Light System incorporates variable headlamps with various functions: country mode to illuminate more of the shoulder on the opposite side of the road, a two-stage motorway mode, enhanced fog light function, cornering lights and curve illumination. Last but not least,  highway mode kicks in above 55 mph it increases lamp output from 35 to 38 watts, and above 70 mph it extends the beam about 160 feet farther out. Enhanced fog lamps provide added illumination to the sides at speeds below 40 mph.

Lane Keeping Assist

Lane Keeping Assist monitors the area in front of your vehicle by means of a camera at the top of the windscreen. Lane Keeping Assist detects lane markings on the road and warns you before you leave your lane unintentionally. If you do not react to the warning, a lane-correcting application of the brakes can bring the vehicle back into the original lane. Drift out of your lane and the steering wheel will vibrate to discretely alert the driver.

The exclusive PRE-SAFE system can sense that a collision might be imminent, and help prepare for it in the precious moments leading up to it. Using a network of sensors PRE-SAFE can detect certain conditions that suggest an accident is about to occur, such as extreme skidding. It then tightens the front seat belts, adjusts the front head restraints and passenger seat, and can even close the windows and sunroof, all to better prepare the occupants for more effective results from the restraint systems.
