Mercedes-Benz classic G-Class series to be released June 2012

The Mercedes-Benz G-class was originally created in 1979 to be used as a tough off-road vehicle, since then it has gone under a 33 year evolution. The new G-class is a refined, high-class, and practical off-road car. The series is considered to be the top models among luxury-class cross-country vehicles and was voted off-roader of the year, yet again this year.

Arizona G-Class drivers will be pleased to know Mercedes-Benz has taken significant measures to ensure that the G-class remains in a sector of its own among the off-road class. The newest model includes upgraded high-quality materials, a redesigned instrument cluster and center console, COMAND online infotainment system, navigation system, and internet access. The G 63 AMG also got an upgrade with an eight-cylinder biturbo engine and the ECO start/stop system now comes standard. Although the updates to the G-Class are noticeable they still keep the classic and timeless design that has made the G-Class an icon.

Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars was quotes saying: “Our G-Class has been a force to be reckoned with for the last 33 years. In its latest evolutionary stage, it offers state-of-the-art, powerful engines, a further improved range of luxurious appointments and the very latest safety features, as well, of course, as its now legendary off-road capabilities. At the same time the design remains true to its down-to-earth, unmistakable style.”

On the outside there are small exterior modifications such as LED daytime running headlights and new exterior mirrors. The AMG version has a new radiator grille with double louvers and new bumpers with larger air intakes. Also for the first time 20-inch wheels are available.

Under the hood there is a range of engine options for the G-Class including the G 350 BlueTEC and the G 500. The basic version of the G 350 BlueTEC features a V6 diesel engine, with a 211 horsepower output. The BlueTEC technology developed by Mercedes-Benz aids the car to reduce emissions and be more fuel efficient. The other engine the G 500 has a powerful 5.5-liter V8 engine, which produces 388 horsepower. Both the G 350 and G 500 engines feature the 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission. A new engine option is the V8 biturbo engine that produces an amazing 544 horsepower and has the ECO start/stop system. Finally there is also a G 65 AMG V12 biturbo engine that produces the most horsepower at 612 hp, and is the most powerful series-produced cross-country vehicle engine in the world.

The technical and design upgrades make the G-Class continue to provide as an excellent on and off road vehicle. The new G-Class is available starting June 2012 at Arizona Mercedes-Benz dealers.
