2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class on Sale in September

2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Mercedes-Benz recently revealed the redesigned 2015 C-Class. The new C-Class packs in design cues familiar with newer Benzes, from the prominent grille and swept-back headlamps of the S-Class to the finely edging sides of the CLA and CLS.

With the goal of light weight in mind, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class manages to grow larger yet slimmer. Mercedes says the C-Class is about 220 pounds lighter than before, despite growing 3 inches in wheelbase and 3.7 inches in overall length. Aluminum accounts for roughly half the body structure, up from 10 percent previously, helping to deliver what Mercedes claims will be a 20-percent jump in fuel economy.

When it arrives at Mercedes-Benz dealers, only two engines will be available, the C200 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol, or the C220 BlueTec 2.1-litre four-cylinder diesel, and both will come with a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearboxes. Three further engine variants, including a hybrid, will arrive before the end of the year.

All trims also get a backup camera, rain-sensing wipers, Attention Assist, Speedtronic cruise control, heated windscreen wiper washers, a tire pressure monitoring system and Collision Prevention Assist Plus as standard. The Agility Select system is also included, allowing the driver to choose from five driving modes – Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport+ and Individual.

Step up to a C-Class in Sport trim, and you get 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, lowered comfort suspension, chrome exterior trim and a Garmin sat-nav. The AMG Line adds 18-inch AMG wheels, AMG body styling and steering wheel, sports suspension and an Artico finish to the upper dashboard.

Although the C-Class comes with a high level of equipment as standard, Mercedes will offer a host of option packs. Drivers of the entry level SE model can select the Executive Pack, which adds the sat-nav, plus heated front seats and split folding rear seats. On Sport and AMG Line models, the Driving Assistance Package adds Distronic Plus, Blind Spot Assist, Pre-safe and Lane-Keeping Assist.

The new C-Class goes on sale in September of this year. Visit Mercedes-Benz of Tucson for more information.
