Beauty, sophistication, class…these words are an accurate description of not only Mercedes-Benz, but the models and designers of Tucson Fashion Week 2014, sponsored by Mercedes Benz of Tucson. Many events occurred from the 16th through 19th of October, but the main attraction was “Film Tucson Presents: Project Runway Showcase” at the Fox Theatere. Featuring local and national designers, the event was a smashing success, and brought the hottest trends to the desert.
Fashion Week started off with a launch party and design competiton judged by U of A Alumni, and fashion leader Nathan Lee Colkitt. Each designer was given an architectual design and tasked to create an article of clothing based on the given design. The results, put together by Angela Johnson, Kelia Gallagher, Kimberly Loyd, and Quinlan Wilhite, were stunning to see, and the models made each piece look flawless.
Saturday night was the Project Runway Showcase, and this was two hours of lights, music, and a true showcase of how fashion has evolved and is continuing to evolve. Bert Keeter, Korto Momolu, Daniel Esquivel, Mila Hermanovski, and Peach Carr provided some gorgeous designs and the Fox Theatre has never looked better!
All in all, the four days brought some national exposure to the Sonoran desert, and Mercedes Benz of Tucson was proud to sponsor one of the fastest growing fashion events in the country. The jewel of the southwest shone brightly this past week, and it’s all thanks to the great designers, models, and organizers who put together this extravagent week.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG line has roots that go all the way back to 1988. Over the last two and a half decades, this line has been defined by aggressive designs featuring carbon fiber, excellent handling & stability, and the highest levels of performance on the market. Because this line has remained so popular, Mercedes-Benz has continued to lead the field with its innovations.
The latest addition to this iconic line of high-powered vehicles is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT. This vehicle is an especially exciting milestone for Mercedes-Benz. As the vehicle’s official press release explains, “with the new Mercedes-AMG GT, the Mercedes-AMG sports car brand is moving into a new sports car segment.”
Overview of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT
This vehicle combines an incredible design with performance that will take your breath away. As its growl makes clear, this is a vehicle that was born on the racetrack. Thanks to its low body weight and extremely fast power transfers, the GT’s cornering performance is downright incredible.
As you’ll see if you check out this car in person at Mercedes-Benz of Tucson in the not too distant future, the vehicle features an interior that was inspired by aviation design. The dashboard exudes power with a look that’s reminiscent of a wing and features four central vents plus the ideal center console.
2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Highlights You Don’t Want to Miss
The new AMG GT has a V8 biturbo engine. Not only is it a 4.0-liter engine, but it’s actually handbuilt. One of the GT’s many accomplishments is it’s the first sports car to feature an engine with dry sump lubrication and turbos inside the V of the engine.
Topping out at a breathtaking 193 miles per hour, the preliminary time for the 2016 AMG GT to go from zero to sixty is just 3.7 seconds. Both the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and dynamic exhaust system are electronically controlled. This provides a limited slip differential for the transmission and a variable vane for the exhaust.
Thanks to the AMG Dynamic Select feature, not only is the suspension dynamic, but it’s possible for multiple drivers to choose different steering and suspension modes. Some of the interior’s luxurious highlights include a performance steering wheel with shift paddles and the highest quality Nappa leather throughout the interior.
While driving this car is an absolute thrill, it’s also incredibly safe thanks to features like adaptive braking technology and PARKTRONIC. Drivers can also opt for blind spot and lane keeping assist. Drivers will be able to make the AMG truly their own thanks to a variety of trim options that include matte silver fiberglass and silver chrome.
If you can’t wait to see what this car looks and sounds like when it’s right in front of you, mark your calendar now for when it hits the market in Spring 2015!
When Mercedes-Benz set out to create an all-new, compact SUV, it combined innovative technology and design cues from its racing arm, AMG, and its experience in creating the first all-wheel drive vehicle. This combination has produced the Mercedes-Benz GLA- class. Offered as the GLA 250 4MATIC and the GLA 45 AMG, both feature a sleek, timeless design, with enough room for gear and passengers, yet a small enough footprint to mimic the handling of a well-appointed sedan.
The GLA 250 4MATIC at Mercedes-Benz of Tucson, features a 208-hp Direct Injection turbo 4-cylinder engine, paired with a 7-speed DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission with electronic shifter and steering wheel shift paddles, makes 258 lb-ft of torque, enough to power you and your guests out of the most intimidating of situations. Standard luxuries include a power liftgate and chrome load-in sill, mbrace, with smartphone app and available in-vehicle internet, and a 14-way power driver’s memory seat with three memory settings. Also standard is 4MATIC all-wheel drive with variable torque, Off-Road Package with pushbutton off-road program, and Electronic Stability Program, adaptive braking technology, Collision Prevention Assist Plus with autonomous braking, and Attention Assist, the driver drowsiness detection system.
Apart from all of the whiz-bang special effects, the GLA 250 4MATIC envelopes you in luxury from the moment you open the door and enter the cabin. The leather-wrapped steering wheel includes one-touch controls for numerous systems; the vents feature airplane-style aluminum rings, and the dash can be inlaid with hand-finished wood, in Burl Walnut or modern Satin Brown Poplar. Leather seating surfaces are hand-fitted and matched to the top-stitched leather dash. The GLA 250 comfortably seats five adults, and features up to 43.6 cubic feet of space when the rear seats lay flat.
Mercedes-Benz of Tucson also has the sportier version of the GLA, the 45 AMG. It features the most powerful 4-cylinder in production, the handcrafted 355-hp Direct Inject turbo. Controlled by the 7-speed AMG SpeedShift dual-clutch automatic transmission with AMG E-Select and shift paddles, the AMG racing signature is found in the deeper front air dam and rear valance, chiseled side sills, and 19″ AMG alloy wheels with the traditional red brake calipers. The interior features AMG deeply-bolstered sport seats, exclusive instruments and AMG-specific trim. Rounding out the AMG experience is an available AMG Driver’s package and Performance Suspension, and an upgrade to 20″ AMG wheels in silver or black. It also includes all of the features of the GLA 250 4MATIC, including all-wheel drive and leather seating surfaces.
