Looking for a car that exudes luxury and performance like no other car on the market? Look no further than Motor Authority’s Best Performance/Luxury Car to Buy for 2014, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG. For more information, visit your Mercedes-Benz of Tucson dealership.
Motor Authority declares the CLA45 AMG to be “the most powerful production four-cylinder engine in the world. All-wheel drive. Sleek four-door coupe styling. Advanced electronics and entertainment equipment. A sporty, elegant interior. For $48,375?! Really?”
For the most part, yes.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG, based on the front-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, starts at a paltry $48,375. An optioned model can reach around $60,000 though—but that is common for most cars available today.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine, each hand built by a single builder at the plant in Affalterbach, Germany, produces an astonishing 355 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of twist. A 0-to-60 run comes in just 4.5 seconds and is electronically limited to 155 mph. Even though all-wheel-drive, which is standard on all AMG models, finds its way on to the CLA45 AMG, 50 percent of the power can be sent to the rear wheels.
“The CLA45’s mix of size, style, luxury, and equipment hits a sweet spot we haven’t seen in the U.S. in a long time—if ever,” wrote Motor Authority scribe, Nelson Ireson.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG’s interior follows Mercedes’ current design ethos, which makes it a comfortable place to spend any amount of time. Options are abundant. The $2200 Premium package includes satellite radio, dual-zone climate control, heated seats, Harman/Kardon premium audio, garage-door opener, compass, and auto-dimming mirrors. The Multimedia package, $2370, adds rearview camera; COMAND system and enhanced voice control with hard-drive navigation, six-CD changer, 10-gigabyte music storage, and SD card slot. A Driver Assistance package has blind-spot warning, lane-keeping assist, and radar cruise control.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG is a great example of what an automaker can do with an already interesting base car and a penchant for uncompromised speed and performance.
Mercedes-Benz of Tucson was proud to be the headline sponsor of Tucson Fashion Week. The three-day event took place October 17 through October 19 2013.
Tucson Fashion Week (TFW) is an annual community event that provides a professional platform for emerging designers, independent retailers, and established brands to showcase their work to local and national consumers, buyers, and industry leaders without leaving their own backyard. TFW uniquely combines creative culinary efforts with fashion, elevating the Tucson community into the national spotlight. All entrants participated in a competitive professional show and received constructive feedback from respected active members of the fashion industry. In addition to expanding the creative and professional contacts for designers, hairstylists and makeup artists, winners received prizes such as cash awards, scholarships, and meetings with designers, manufacturers and entrepreneurs.
More than 1,500 attendees throughout the three events were treated to an array of fashion presentations, runway shows, culinary tastings, and art competitions. The highlight of Tucson Fashion Week was the inclusion of celebrity fashion designer Betsey Johnson as the TFW’s original Inspired Icon. Ms. Johnson not only attended the event, she showcased a capsule collection of her work throughout the decades that was originally shown at her 70th birthday party in New York City. The TFW team, in order to honor an industry professional in a unique and original manner, created the Inspired Icon event. The event’s main function was to raise scholarship funds and awareness for two University of Arizona programs, The Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing and The Center for American Culture and Ideas. In addition, TFW hosted fashion designer Bert Keeter from Project Runway, on the last evening, and at the same time provided opportunities for many local and regional emerging designers and student designers to showcase their collections alongside these seasoned professionals.
TFW and Mercedes-Benz of Tucson wrapped up the week with an intimate runway event and party at La Encantada, featuring national designer Nicholas K, emerging designers, national children’s designer Rebecca Gold and her “Love Jay Girls” collection, local retailers. Awards were presented to the winners of Friday’s Premiere Runway and Ensemble event. Some of Tucson’s best restaurants provided food for the guests.
Mercedes-Benz of Tucson is proud to have been the Title Sponsor of Tucson Fashion Week, and bringing high fashion to Tucson.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA, a small, five-door hatchback based on the same platform as the CLA, has been given the AMG treatment—as it rightfully should. Hot hatches have been infiltrating the market, and Mercedes isn’t far behind with one of its latest performance offerings. For more information on the GLA45 AMG and other Mercedes models, visit your Mercedes-Benz of Tucson dealership.
Adopting the CLA45’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the GLA45 produces 355 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. This is all delivered through Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system that is standard on all AMG models sold in the US. Mercedes says the GLA45 will rocket from 0-to-60 in 4.8 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. Power is transmitted through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with manual shifting mode and paddle shifters.
Even with the all-wheel-drive system, 4MATIC is able to send 50 percent of the torque to the rear wheels. In normal driving, power is supplied to the front wheels.
The suspension is upgraded for the GLA45, with specially-tuned springs and dampers, as well as a larger stabilizer bar. AMG is offering a performance suspension that firms up the springs and dampers even more.
An optional Exterior Carbon-Fiber package gives the GLA45 a racier look, replacing the exterior mirror caps, rear spoiler, splitter, doorsills, and rear-fascia trim in carbon fiber goodness.
The GLA45AMG is based off the CLA platform, so expect similar performance numbers once this hits dealership lots. Pricing for the GLA45 AMG hasn’t been announced, but estimates peg that it should land around $52,000 to start.
The GLA45 AMG is just the latest example of Mercedes’ commit to high-powered performance vehicles. With an expanding lineup in the US market, AMG is dutifully behind making amazingly fast and fun cars for the masses.
