2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid is the Greenest S-Class Yet

2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-In Hybrid

If you are in the market for a money-saving Mercedes-Benz in Arizona, you’re in luck! The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid offers a fuel consumption of about 78.4 mpg and is motivated by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine rated at 328 BHP and 480 Nm and an electric motor that adds another 107 BHP and 340 Nm.

The combo enables the plug-in hybrid sedan to reach a top speed of 155 mph and accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.5 seconds. In addition to the Hybrid mode, the Mercedes-Benz 500S Plug-in Hybrid can be set with three different drive settings to most efficiently use power from the gas engine and the electric motor. E-Mode uses electric power alone, E-Save Mode maintains the battery for electric only use and Charge-Mode enables the battery to charge while driving.

The new plug-in hybrid addition to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is powered by a turbocharged V6 and an electric motor. A lithium-ion battery pack is mounted in the trunk and will be rechargeable through a port on the right rear bumper. According to Mercedes-Benz, the S500 is the greenest S-class yet. The S500 will reportedly only emit 43.5 grams of carbon dioxide per mile, putting it under most tax-incentive thresholds for emissions.

The 2014 S-Class will be arriving at dealerships this fall, and news of an upcoming hybrid model means that it should appeal to an even wider range of drivers. Until then, make sure you stop by Mercedes-Benz of Tucson. We’ll show you the latest vehicles in the exciting Mercedes-Benz lineup, including the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and E-Class sedans, as well as the M-Class and GL-Class SUVs. We look forward to going on a test drive with you soon!
