Mercedes-Benz’s and AMG relationship started 45 years ago and to honor the relationship Mercedes-Benz has released a special edition AMG. The car is the super powerful SL65 AMG convertible.

The 45th anniversary edition of the Mercedes’ AMG is not only a collector’s item but homage to the history between Mercedes-Benz and the AMG division. Only 45 special edition cars will be made to ensure the car stays as a collectable.  The paint on the outside is a special hue of Designomagno graphite, a gray paint with a satin finish. On the exterior there are also trimpieces made out of real carbon fiber, including a cross strut, both wing mirrors, and the lip spoiler. There are also radiator grille slats, the daytime running light surrounds, and the hood wing fins, are all finished in chrome.

A look at the new Mercedes-Benzs interior reveals even more items from the Designo collection, including diamond stitched leather on the door panels and the seats. The seat backs have the AMG logo and the convertible hardtop is lined with nappa leather. Finally, each car has a badge on the ashtray cover that shows exactly which one of the 45 special edition units you are driving.

Outside of those upgrades and editions it’s the same SL65 AMG that the public has seen before. Under the hood it features a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12 engine that produces 630 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. The 45th anniversary model AMG also has a sports exhaust system that can take you from 0-60 in 4.0 seconds.

Mercedes released a video to remind consumers just how powerful the SL65 AMG is: you can check it out here. For more information on the special edition of the Mercedes-Benz AMG contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealership.
